Meet Diana – Intern at Sorama
Diana is currently studying electrical and electronic engineering. She started at Sorama in February with a one-day-a-week internship. After that she continued with her third year internship on the 31st of August 2021. In this blog below we will dive deeper into what it’s like interning at Sorama and why, along side the different fields and projects that can be worked and researched on to your hearts content. You will not only gain an insight into the technicalities and the complicated diagrams, but also into how problems can occur and be solved.
What have you been doing?
“My project assignment right now, is to create another version of the existing Sorama sound camera. In short I sample the data from the microphone array and send it to the receiving device. Besides that I have been working on new ways for Sorama to visualize the SoundSurface.”
What are your most memorable moments?
“I really like what I’m currently doing. A really memorable moment that I remember and liked was when I actually made the board working and went to the lab to test it with the camera. It was cool because it actually worked, was successful and was what the clients required.”
Why Sorama?
“Well actually I heard of Sorama from Eduard, he told me about the company when I was searching to do my one day a week internship during my 2nd year. So I researched it, to see what they do and saw they have very cool, enthusiastic projects and products and because I am personally into sound, this also contributed to my decisions to why I wanted to apply to Sorama. On top of this, when I went to the interview, the people were really nice and they provided me with an assignment that sounded very appealing to me and from then on I wanted to be a part of the company.”
What challenges have you faced?
“Most of the challenges that I have faced are based on the fact that I am still a student and have a lack of knowledge in some topics, for example I build a design and it doesn’t work the way it supposed to and I think to my self oh no, what am I going to do now?”
What did you do to overcome them?
“Usually I search on the internet for a solution which is my first step, but if cannot find something that is useful I go and ask my company mentor to help me with my issue for that. The people here are really nice, the know how to help you or know someone to help you with your problem.”
What advice would you give to future interns?
“Well I would say, design and build. It’s fun. You learn a lot and don’t worry to ask people for help because the people at Sorama are nice, helpful and they have a lot of knowledge about relevant topics.”
