Sorama and Fluke partner to create new technology that enables maintenance crews to easily visualize compressed air leaks in industrial equipment
The new Fluke ii900 Sonic Industrial Imager quickly locates air and vacuum leaks to help companies maintain their compressed air systems, maximizing productivity and reducing utility bills
EINDHOVEN, The Netherlands, April 30, 2019 – The average compressed air system loses 30 percent of its air through leaks but locating those leaks* has been a time-consuming and tedious process. Fluke Corporation, the world leader in diagnostic industrial test and measurement equipment, has exclusively partnered with Sorama, an Eindhoven-based company specializing in noise control and sound analysis solutions, to develop a new way to simplify and speed the detection of compressed air leaks. The result of that partnership is the new Fluke ii900 Sonic Industrial Imager.
The Fluke ii900 Sonic Industrial Imager enables technicians to quickly, visually pinpoint compressed air, gas, or vacuum leaks — even in factories with extremely noisy conditions. With the Fluke ii900, technicians can identify compressed air leaks up to ten times faster than using traditional diagnostic methods.
Until now, the technique used to visualize sound — called “beam forming” — has been expensive to implement or complicated to use, and mainly targeted at high-end R&D or consulting services. Fluke worked with Sorama to bring its long history and experience in acoustic imaging to the maintenance technician with a tool that has the durability and usability required for industrial maintenance applications.
Innovative collaboration
“A few months after celebrating our ten-year anniversary, this is another great milestone for Sorama,” said Dr. Rick Scholte, CEO and founder of Sorama. “The extensive partnership with Fluke enables new applications in maintenance for Sorama acoustic imaging solutions in addition to the ever-growing impact for customers in the fields of low-noise product design and smart environments.”
“To address the pain points of our customers we continuously look for collaborations with innovative companies,” said Henk Koppelmans, engineering manager Fluke Corporation. “The partnership with Sorama is a good example of deploying a disruptive technology to scalable innovation that will delight Fluke customers.”
